Can we withdraw money from PPF account?

Yes, ppf account holder can withdraw on predefined conditions as per scheme.

Can I withdraw all my money from PPF after 15 years?

Yes, the money can be withdrawn in full after its maturity period.

Can PPF account be closed before 15 years?

Yes, PPF account can be closed before 15 years only for Medical emergency or children's higher education.

When can partial withdrawals begin?

Partial withdrawals can be made, from the start of the 7th financial year after the account has been created

How many withdrawals are allowed per financial year?

Only one withdrawal is allowed per financial year.

Is there any penalty/fine for closing the PPF account before?

Yes, on closing ppf account before maturity account holder get 1% less interest on all the preceding years.

How much amount can be withdrawn once a year from 7th financial year after PPF account creation?

The amount that can be withdrawn is equal to the lower of:

  • 50% of the account balance as at the end of the year immediately preceding the current year, or,
  • 50% of the account balance as at the end of the 4th year, immediately preceding the current year.

How can I withdraw my PPF after maturity?

After 15 years, you have the following two options :

  • Take out the maturity amount and close the account OR
  • Continue the existing PPF account for further block period of 5 years. After the expiry of 5 years, you can continue to extend the duration of the PPF account by 5 years. There is no limit to the number of such extensions.
